Commentary: 

Ever since it opened in 1985, first in Paseo de la Castellana and later on in calle Serrano, the exhibition hall of the Fundación La Caixa in Madrid, has been considered of great prestige inside cultural offer of contemporary art in Madrid


Avant - gardes, new values and different creations in the modern art field have a place in this important hall that has been hoarding its presence in the capital over the last 27 years with considerable samples and notable exhibitions for a better understanding and dissemination of contemporary artistic concerns.


Amongst the artists that have taken part in the exhibitions we must mention Duchamp, Morandi, Clemente, Beuys, David Salle and many more. Since its foundation it has been gathering an important contemporary art collection that includes some of the most important art creators of the 80s and 90s. The collection includes more than 900 pieces of paintings, sculptures, videos, photographs and installations. As well as confirmed Spanish artists like Tápies, Chillida, Oteiza, Saura, Barceló, Gordillo or Susana Solano we can also find important international artists such as J. Beuys, M. Merz, J. Kounellis, D. Judd, B. Nauman, G. Richter or S. Polke.
