The worlds of politics,finance and art meet in this route along streets packed with history,art and bars.The national monuments of politics -the Congreso de los Diputados (Congress/lower house building) - and finance - Banco de España - can be found here, together with other buildings of historical importance such as theTeatro Español, on the site of an old corral (theatre in the round), and the Ateneo (Atheneum club) which was formed by the Second Republic in the early 1930's.

But at weekends, art, politics and finance take second place to bars,cafés and pubs.
