The Borbon dynasty began with the arrival in Madrid of Felipe V in 1701. During the reign of Carlos III some of the most representative monuments of the city were built: The Puerta de Alcalá, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Cibeles...

3. CALLE DE ALCALÁ (Alcalá Street)
 
   
Ministry of Inland Revenue
Neo-classical building by Sabatini in 1769, facade by Pedro Rivera. It was the old Customs House.
  Bank of Spain
Built in the late 19th century, it holds an important collection of artworks.

Círculo de Bellas Artes (Fine Arts Association)

Built in 1919, one of the most active institutions in the city. It organises cinema sessions and conferences.

Real Academia de las Bellas Artes de San Fernando (Fine Arts Academy of San Fernando)

Designed by Churriguera, although it was reformed by Juan de Villanueva in 1775. Built as a palace for the Goyeneche family. It holds an important collection of paintings, of which we can highlight the Spanish 16th and 17th century school.
